I have  over forty years of law enforcement experience and am a graduate of the prestigious, Lethal Force Institute. You can be assured of getting  competent and qualified instruction that  you need in any class taught by Concealed  Handgun Carry, Inc.   

The criteria to be an instructor for the North Carolina Concealed Handgun Class is not very stringent.   No law enforcement experience is required.  You only need a NRA Basic Pistol Instructors Certification and a four hour class presented by the NC Dept. of Justice.   There are many new instructors teaching this class and many are just minimally qualified. 

The NRA Basic Pistol Instructor's course does not teach ANY legal issues nor does it require prior law enforcement experience.  It is all about safety and firearms.   I can assure you that without a substantial law enforcement background or many hours of legal training, an instructor can  not   correctly answer the many , many questions that arises in class about the use of deadly force.

I am continuously  confronted by  some instructor's students who  have received improper and just plain WRONG information on the use of deadly force.  I recently spoke with an instructor who told me  she sent out notices to all her past students because of INCORRECT  use of force information she had  presented  in class to them.

Your training will be an important  part of your defense if you are ever charged with violating the Use of Deadly Force laws.  A competent instructor, one with many hours of court room experience will be a valuable asset for you and your attorney if you have to appear in court as a result of your use of deadly force.

DEFENSIVE SHOOTING FOR CONCEALED HANDGUN PERMIT HOLDERS

We have been working out details for this class for a while and it is now ready to present.  Students in this class will be exposed to the reality of concealed handgun carry for the private citizen.  This class is not about Law Enforcement Offensive Firearm Operations, but you will learn some of the life saving gun fighting skills normally taught to law enforcement officers. 

This class is for a very select group of private citizens, those who have a Concealed Handgun Permit and want to learn some valuable skills to better enable him/her to stay alive in a deadly force incident. There has been much interest for this level of class and we are glad it is now scheduled.  If you are interested, please contact me and get registered.  Each class will be limited to 10 students.  A Concealed Handgun Permit will also be required to participate in this class unless waived by the instructor. was established in January of 2006 for the purposes of providing basic handgun instructions to qualified individuals.  Our primary focus is teaching the North Carolina Concealed Handgun Carry Class.  We challenge you to find a more professionally taught Concealed Handgun Carry Class anywhere in NC.  We work hard to maintain our standards and you may rest assured that you will leave our class confident that you have received the most up to date information available concerning the Concealed Handgun Carry laws of NC.

My background consists of over 40 years of law enforcement and training in North Carolina.  I am certified by the NC Department of Justice as a Firearms Safety Instructor and certified by the National Rifle Association as an instructor for the Basic Pistol and Basic Shotgun courses.  Also, I am certified as a NRA Range Safety Officer. 

My wife, Dianne, serves as my assistant, and she recently retired from teaching 34 years in the public schools of NC.  She is also an avid shooter.

Both Dianne and I are  graduates (2007) of Massad Ayoob's, Lethal Force Institute.  LFI is the most intensive and premier training course in the nation for citizens who want the absolute best training in The Judicious Use of Deadly Force and Stress Fire.  Stress Fire is a method of shooting developed by leading firearms expert and noted author, Massad Ayoob, and involves the use of firearms under extreme stress. 

In his career, Massad has authored ten books and has written over one thousand magazine articles.  He continues to serve as an expert witness on the use of deadly force in numerous criminal trials throughout the country.

Bruce has been competing for thirty-three years and holds the highest classifications in all three action shooting disciplines: NRA Action, USPSA/IPSC and IDPA. He has won gold medals from several world-championship teams, and won a number of state, regional and national titles over the years, shooting as a sponsored shooter for Heckler & Koch and Sig Arms (Sig Sauer). Bruce has also worked as an overseas contractor and as a firearms instructor for a Federal agency as well as law enforcement. He currently serves his community as a sworn peace officer.

The NC Concealed Handgun Permit has been available to qualified citizens of NC since 1995.  The permit system has worked extremely well and only a fraction of one percent of the total permits issued in NC since 1995 have been revoked.  In short, THE SYSTEM WORKS!

We live in perilous times, unlike any other our fore-fathers experienced.  It is vital that we do not enter into that vast pool of citizens who are in denial...denial that another terrorist event will not grace our institutions, whether domestic or foreign.  Denial is the real enemy!  The wolves are now on the prowl in our communities, waiting for the opportune time to strike.  If you are a sheep, well, I feel sorry for you.  About all you can do is say BAAAHH! But, if you are a sheepdog or wish to be more like one, then you have found a good start by making the decision to take the initiative for your own safety.  Carrying a handgun is not the answer to every problem but you must decide what you are going to do, before you are confronted by the wolf.
