All of our classes are now presented with Microsoft Powerpoint 2007, supported with animated graphics and Internet support.
DO'S AND DONT'S FOR ALL CONCEALED CARRY CLASSES.
- Please be familar with your handgun. You should know how to load and unload it SAFELY! If not, consider practicing prior to class.
- Sorry, but we do not allow single action only revolvers. We do not consider this type of firearm to be adequate for defensive purposes in the hands of the average person.
YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING ITEMS :
- Good Quality Handgun and 50 Rounds of Ammunition, Eye Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection
- Holster (no crossdraw or shoulder holsters allowed due to safety concerns.) Please bring a belt for your holster.
- Hat or Cap with brim (to deflect hot spent shells and prevent them from getting between your safety glasses and eyes).
- Loose fitting clothing with pockets works best or a coat with pockets for ammunition and magazines.
This is not the time to bring a firearm to class that you do not know how to operate. Spend some time getting used to the gun and how it functions.
PLEASE DO NOT BRING FIREARMS OR AMMUNITION INTO THE CLASSROOM UNLESS INSTRUCTED TO DO SO BY THE INSTRUCTOR. THE INSTRUCTOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO INSPECT ALL FIREARMS FOR SAFETY AND PROPER OPERATION PRIOR TO THEIR USE.
The NC Concealed Handgun Carry Permit Course is not a difficult course to complete. The state designed this course for the average person, not just for those with lots of experience. The range qualification shooting is fired from a distance of 3, 5 and 7 yards. With our instructions and guidance, shooters with very limited or no experience do very well. We will return one hundred percent of your money if you fail the range qualification or we will work with you until you pass.
According to Reece Trimmer, Harvard Law School Graduate and Staff Attorney/Instructor at the North Carolina Criminal Justice Academy in Salemburg, NC, trained law enforcement officers only hit their target 15% of the time in real life shooting situations.
To increase your confidence and ability to shoot accurately during an extremely stressful real life shooting situation, I highly recommend that a shooter with little or no experience with a handgun take additional training in addition to your Concealed Handgun Carry Permit course.

DO I NEED TRAINING TO PROTECT MYSELF AND HOME?
NEW GALS CLASS SEPT 6
Cost: $50.00
Location: Wilson, NC (Private outside range)
Time: 8:00 to 12:00 Noon
What to bring:
- Handgun and 100 bullets for your handgun (Call if you do not have a firearm)
- hearing protection and eye protection
- Loose fiting clothing will allow you to be more comfortable on the range.
- You will need to wear a hat on the range. This can be a visor, ballcap or other type headgear that will help prevent hot shells from the shooter beside you landing in your face and eyes. If you have ever seen someone react when hot brass landed between their glasses and eyes, you will understand the necessity for this safety measure.
What to expect: The following will be covered in this class:
- Handgun safety
- Parts of a handgun (both semi-automatic and revolver)
- Cleaning suggestions
- How to determine the type of handgun you should buy (I don't sell guns nor am I affiliated with any gun dealers.)
- Grip, stance, presentation (drawing your gun from a holster)
- Shooting drills with Air Soft pistols, green gas blow back pistol, and .22 Cal. pistol.
What to expect with the Shooting:
- Shooting will begin with an Air Soft pistol that shoots 6mm plastic BBs. Here you will learn the basics without being distracted by the recoil of the handgun and at a minimum of risk to yourself or others. When the student is comfortable with the Air Soft, you will will graduate to a GAS blow back pistol that is as realistic as you can get without actually shooting a real gun. The operation of the GAS gun we use is very, very similar to a Sig Sauer P226, the same gun used by the Navy Seals. You will then be able to safetly shoot a REAL gun that fires .22 cal rimfire bullets. Yes, a .22 cal can be deadly!
- The final shooting will be the same course that is shot in the North Carolina Concealed Handgun Class. (You shoot 40 bullets at a large target...see photos on this website...and must hit the target 28 times.) After you pass this shooting proficiency, you may take OUR concealed handgun class at a later date and you will not be required to shoot the proficiency course again. To take advantage of this offer, after completetion of the GALS class you must take the next available Concealed Handgun Class offered by Concealed Handgun Carry Inc. You will also get a $20.00 discount on our Concealed Handgun Class!)
WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
In North Carolina, Justified Self Defense is derived from North Carolina Common Law and a few statutory laws. North Carolina has the so called "Castle Doctrine". Read below for more details on this important home defense statute.
1. You are awakened in the middle of the night by the sound of breaking glass in your bedroom window. You grab your pistol and observe a man wearing a ski mask and holding a pry bar. He is standing just outside your window. Can you legally use deadly force against the person before he enters through the window or must you wait until he gets in?
2. You are awakened in the middle of the night by a noise in your bedroom. You grab your pistol and turn on the light. You see a man at the foot of your bed. He is wearing a ski mask and holding your jewelry box in his hands. He sees you and turns to run out the bedroom door. Can you legally use deadly force against the person who has broken into your home and running away with your jewelry?
3. You have just watched the evening news about a serial murderer and rapest. You go out to get the newspaper from your driveway, and see the murderer and rapest attempting to steal your car. Can you legally use deadly force against the killer who is attempting to take your car?
ANSWER TO QUESTION 1:
NC GENERAL STATUTE 14‑51.1. Use of deadly physical force against an intruder. (This is commonly called the "Castle Doctrine.")
(a) A lawful occupant within a home or other place of residence is justified in using any degree of force that the occupant reasonably believes is necessary, including deadly force, against an intruder to prevent a forcible entry into the home or residence or to terminate the intruder's unlawful entry (i) if the occupant reasonably apprehends that the intruder may kill or inflict serious bodily harm to the occupant or others in the home or residence, or (ii) if the occupant reasonably believes that the intruder intends to commit a felony in the home or residence.
(b) A lawful occupant within a home or other place of residence does not have a duty to retreat from an intruder in the circumstances described in this section.
ANSWER TO QUESTION 2:
North Carolina law does not allow the use of deadly force solely to protect property, or to prevent theft, or to regain stolen property. An owner can defend his or her property using reasonable and necessary force, but not deadly force. A property owner cannot shoot a thief before, during, or after a theft. The same rule prohibits deadly force to prevent injury or vandalism to property.
ANSWER TO QUESTION 3:
See answer to question 2. In addition, no matter how serious the crime, a citizen cannot shoot to stop a fleeing criminal.
IF YOU DID NOT KNOW THE CORRECT ANSWER TO THOSE THREE QUESTIONS, YOU MIGHT WANT TO CONSIDER FIREARMS TRAINING SO YOU WILL BE BETTER PREPARED TO DEFEND YOURSELF, FAMILY AND HOME WITH A FIREARM.
Too many people make the mistake of not getting the proper training in firearms handling and safety. The result can be disasterous. DO NOT ALLOW THAT TO HAPPEN TO YOU! With the proper training, the next time you hear that "bump in the dark," or when disaster strikes, you will feel much more confident about your ability to protect yourself, your family and home.
Whether you are interested in recreational shooting, competition, hunting, gun collecting, historical reenactment, home safety, or personal protection -- the basics are where to start! Basic Firearm Training Courses teach you the safety principles and help you develop the knowledge, skills, and attitude that are needed to successfully pursue your shooting interests.
